COALITIONS, Convenings & Skillshares
Global and domestic coalition work and convenings are a crucial way we build momentum, power, and capacity in the corporate accountability field. Because so much corporate accountability work requires time, resources, and funding to move the needle, CAL participates in a number of coalitions that tackle different issues. These include: the Tariff Act Advocates Group, where we support the enforcement of Section 307 of the Tariff Act to stop goods made with forced labor from entering the United States; the Coalition Against Forced Labor in Trade, a coordinated effort to ensure no country is a safe harbor for goods produced with forced labor; the Coalition to End Forced Labor in the Uyghur Region, which works to end forced labor of Uyghur and other Muslim and Turkic ethnic minorities in China; and the U.S. Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing and Labor Abuses Coalition.

Using legal design thinking, CAL organized and facilitated a multi-day convening in Brazil to develop a common understanding and shared framework for addressing labor rights, deforestation, and indigenous land rights in the cattle supply chain in the Amazon. Participants included Global North (U.S., EU) and Brazilian civil society organizations, journalists, and indigenous rights activists.
