June 2021 COCOBOD Report Launch Webinar
On June 17, 2021, CAL launched COCOBOD’s Unrealised Potential: Promoting Human Rights, Welfare, and the Environment in Ghana’s Cocoa-Growing Communities, a report we co-authored with the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law Center for International Human Rights, University of Ghana School of Law, SEND Ghana, Barima Akwasi Amankwaah, and Glen Asomaning.
The report focuses on the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), a Ghanaian government agency that controls and runs much of the country’s cocoa industry. The report examines a $600 million loan COCOBOD received from the African Development Bank and challenges COCOBOD’s current role in the cocoa industry. It encourages COCOBOD to use this moment to become more responsive to cocoa farmers and communities. Read our blog post here and the full report here, and watch the recording of the launch here.
